Hi, I’m Yuichiro Aoki, a 24-year-old Japanese man living in rural Japan as a software engineer. Today, I’m going to share with you how I got fired last year and why I’m so glad to get fired.

Couldn’t Do the Job I Wanted to Do

I got hired as a software engineer at a tech startup selling medical software applications in Osaka, Japan in May 2020. Back then, I have little experience as a software developer, so I was pretty happy to get a job offer from them. However, I never got to write code or even see them, which I wished to experience. If a software engineer, working experiences do matter to your career and job satisfaction. I was installing the company’s application on clients’ computers, and that doesn’t mean anything like a working experience for a software developer. I was so excited to code at the job before I start to work, so the gap was extraordinary for me.

One Lesson from a Book
